Antioch City Council to Hold Closed Session on Interim City Manager Appointment

According to Antioch Herald: Antioch City Council will hold a special Closed Session meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 7, at 1:30 PM. The meeting comes as the current City Manager Bessie Scott's two-year contract ends on Oct. 8, 2026.

Scott was hired in August 2024 on a 3-2 vote with a Step B salary of $263,880 annually. She has been on paid leave since May 5 following a 4-0 Closed Session council vote with Tamisha Torres-Walker abstaining.

Ana Cortez, the current Acting City Manager and Director of Human Resources, is expected to be appointed as Interim City Manager.

The council will also discuss the public employee recruitment of a new permanent city manager.

The city is in receipt of information concerning possible Labor Code Section 1102.5 and Fair Employment and Housing Act violations.
