Contra Costa County Public Works will repair a damaged culvert and sinkhole under Springbrook Road near Sherwood Way from October 1 through November 30, 2026.

Contra Costa County Public Works announced a project to repair a damaged culvert and sinkhole under Springbrook Road near Sherwood Way in the Walnut Creek and Lafayette area, according to a notice posted by Contra Costa County.

Contra Costa County says construction begins October 1, 2026 and runs through November 30, 2026, barring unforeseen circumstances. Work occurs 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays, weather permitting.

During working hours, Springbrook Road will be closed to through traffic between east of Sherwood Way and south of the project site, according to Contra Costa County. Residents along the closure may experience delays of up to 15 minutes.

Funding for the project is provided by Federal Emergency Relief Funds and Local Road Funds, according to Contra Costa County.
