Corgi, an AI insurance startup, purchased Stephen Curry's Dogpatch building for $11 million in August 2026 to establish a cafe expansion that has since scaled back after permitting issues and leadership changes.

AI insurance startup Corgi purchased the property at 600 20th St. in San Francisco's Dogpatch neighborhood for $11 million in August 2026, The San Francisco Standard reported. Warriors star Stephen Curry had purchased the property for $8.5 million in 2024, making the sale price a 29% increase from what he paid — without any renovations or tenants added.
Corgi, which has received four rounds of funding since May pushing its valuation north of $5 billion according to Forbes, had been aggressively pursuing real estate to build a network of branded coworking cafes, The San Francisco Standard reported. But the expansion has hit serious snags.
The startup's Dogpatch cafe opened just 28 days after the lease was signed and was forced to close this month for operating without a valid health permit, according to The San Francisco Standard. In New York, Corgi's Manhattan cafe was flagged by city health inspectors for evidence of mice and insects.
The same week the San Francisco permitting issue made headlines, Corgi dismissed Trevor Owens, who had been hired in June to oversee the cafe expansion, and scaled back plans to open 100 locations, The San Francisco Standard reported. Katie Yuan, sister of cofounder Emily Yuan, is now overseeing the cafe business.
