Deer Valley High Music Students Transform Antioch Gym into Showroom for Oct. 10 Fundraiser
Deer Valley High's Instrumental Music Program hosts its second annual showroom sale in Antioch to fund student travel, competitions, and instruments.

Student musicians and booster parents at Deer Valley High School are getting ready to turn their campus gymnasium into a bustling mattress showroom on Saturday, October 10. The second annual fundraising drive, running from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at 4700 Lone Tree Way in Antioch, offers area shoppers an unconventional way to support high school performing arts. Proceeds from the mattress event will help fund competitive showcase tours, guest clinician workshops, and essential instrument maintenance for the school's award-winning band.
For families in Antioch and neighboring East Bay communities, the benefit sale presents a convenient opportunity to purchase factory-warrantied sleep systems while directly enriching local arts education. High school music education has been proven to enhance academic achievement and foster civic teamwork, yet funding shortages frequently threaten specialized music curricula. Half of all retail proceeds will remain on campus, giving student percussionists, brass players, and string musicians the financial backing required to compete in statewide performance festivals.
The Antioch Unified School District has historically championed arts education, but rising logistical expenditures for transportation, uniform replacements, and sheet music licenses require aggressive auxiliary fundraising by parent booster clubs. Band Director Brian Poole noted that conventional student fundraisers such as coupon books or candy sales rarely generate sufficient capital to repair expensive instruments like tubas, marimbas, and French horns. By inviting an established bedding distributor to showcase premium products on campus, the music boosters established a highly reliable annual funding stream.
Visitors to the North Gym will discover more than 25 floor models from leading national bedding manufacturers, featuring plush, pillow-top, latex, and memory foam options alongside power-adjustable lifestyle bases. In addition to mattress sets, shoppers can purchase luxury pillows, waterproof mattress protectors, and sheet sets. Student musicians will perform live concerts throughout the six-hour showroom event, featuring energetic tunes from the Teal Tones jazz ensemble and classical string quartets. Nationwide delivery, old mattress removal, and flexible consumer financing will be available on-site.
Patrons who pre-register via the music association's online community link can download a voucher for 10 percent off their purchases. Boosters encourage Antioch residents to stop by the Lone Tree Way campus between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM on October 10 to enjoy student performances and test display mattresses without high-pressure sales tactics.
