The Fremont Art Association will host guest artist Rachel Maple for its monthly General Meeting and Art Demo on Wednesday, Nov. 4, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at its gallery at 37697 Niles Blvd. in Fremont’s Niles district, according to Tri-City Voice.

While traditional Chinese ink painting is often associated with monochrome brushwork, Maple’s live demonstration will examine the use of saturated color palettes in classical and contemporary Chinese art.

Opaque Mineral Layers and Translucent Watercolor Shifts

Inspired by both traditional Chinese watercolor techniques and California’s natural landscapes, Maple will walk attendees through the methods behind a series of paintings—including her work Golden Rays—showing how master artists combine bold, opaque mineral layers with translucent watercolor washes to convey narrative and atmosphere.

The session is open to the community at the Fremont Art Association gallery in Niles, with event details available through the association’s monthly meeting program.
