According to City of Hayward — News: The City of Hayward has announced the opening of applications for its free residential chipping services aimed at reducing wildfire risk. Applications are open from August 10 to October 1, and the chipping services will be provided between September 1 and November 13. The program offers free chipping services to residents in the Hayward Hills and Fairview Fire Protection District. Residents must cut, gather, and stack their branches, and a contractor will perform the chipping on the street. Eligible properties are located east of Mission Boulevard, south of D Street, up to the Union City border. The Residential Assistance Program (RAP) provides financial support to seniors, disabled individuals, and low-income residents. Funding for the program comes from the CAL FIRE Wildfire Prevention Grants Program through California Climate Investments.
