Hayward's sustainability committee sets a Dec. 7 special meeting

Hayward's Council Sustainability Committee will hold a special meeting on Monday, Dec. 7, and the city is already taking written comment for it.\n\nThe committee meets twice a year to work through policy tied to Hayward's environmental goals, which makes each meeting one of the few standing chances a resident has to speak to the council on climate and sustainability questions before decisions reach the full body.\n\nThe meeting is virtual. Links for live public comment will be posted the week before, the city said.\n\nWritten comment goes by email to erik.pearson@hayward-ca.gov by 1 p.m. on the day of the meeting. Put the agenda item number in the subject line. Emails are compiled into a single file, sent to the committee and city staff, and published on the city's meeting and agenda center at hayward.legistar.com under "Documents Received After Published Agenda."\n\nA comment can be read aloud into the record on request — say so in the email. The chair can limit that time, and a reading will not be allowed to run past three minutes, the same limit that applies to speakers at council committee meetings. Emailed comments become part of the meeting record either way.\n\nResidents who need an accommodation for a disability, or translation during the meeting, must ask the Office of the City Clerk at least 48 hours ahead, at (510) 583-4400 or TDD (510) 247-3340.\n\nThe city has not posted a start time or an agenda for the Dec. 7 meeting.
