The National Weather Service issued an early Friday advisory warning that moderate coastal flooding is possible along the shores of San Pablo, San Francisco, and Monterey bays as well as the Pacific coast from Friday, Oct. 30 through Sunday, Nov. 1, 2026, while light rain could reach parts of the Bay Area on Saturday for Halloween (NBC Bay Area). Across the region, national and local restaurant chains are also offering kids-eat-free promotions, free doughnuts, and discounted entrées through Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 (NBC Bay Area).

Friday Afternoon Tide Peaks and Saturday Halloween Rain Probabilities

Driven by roughly 1.5 feet of additional surge from ocean thermal expansion and low atmospheric pressure, high tide at the San Francisco tidal gauge is forecast to peak at 1.9 feet above normal at 2:39 p.m. Friday, followed by 1.5 feet above normal Saturday afternoon and 1 foot above normal Sunday afternoon (with local high-tide timing varying by up to 90 minutes along the coast and bay shoreline) (NBC Bay Area). At the Monterey tidal gauge, high tide is projected to reach 1.8 feet above normal at 1:25 p.m. Friday, 1.4 feet Saturday, and 0.8 feet Sunday.

For Saturday, forecasters project a 10% to 30% chance of light Halloween rain across most of the Bay Area (producing a few hundredths to about a tenth of an inch), rising to 30% to 50% along the Monterey coast and 50% to 70% in interior Monterey County (up to a third of an inch).
